Learning outdoors is far more than learning about the outdoors. A lesson learnt outside often impacts on a child in a very different way to the same lesson taught in a classroom.
At St Uny we have some amazing grounds with many discrete learning spaces, include a pond, a wildlife garden, poly tunnel, orchard, and our bees.
All children at St Uny benefit from regular lessons with our own outdoor learning leader, Mr Frost.
The end of 2017 what a great year!
It's the end 2017 and we have had a great year. St Uny has inspiring grounds for aspiring young minds. I am very proud of what we have done by enhancing the opportunities for the children to learn outside. In preparing our children for the future we need to nurture their understanding of natural resources and how much effort is required to sustain us in our food production and use of materials. I truly believe that with the use of our outdoor learning areas we are creating a generation that will respect nature and will help protect the environment for themselves and for their children in the future.
What have we been up to?
We have been up to a lot this year. Since last September we have been outside conducting lots of experiments and improving our grounds. Below is a sample of what we have been doing.
