Our class teacher is Mrs Travis, our trainee teacher is Miss Wagstaff and our part-time TAs are Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Nicholson. Homework may include a spelling task, a 99 Club challenge, a My Maths ICT task and a Big Talk subject. It is set on Thursdays and due in on Tuesdays. Our outdoor games afternoon is Tuesday and we are lucky to be learning gymnastics at St Ives Technology College fortnightly on Friday afternoons. We have recently competed in a whole class Sports Hall Athletics event held at Mounts Bay Sports Academy which was great fun and we finished 4th out of eight schools.
This term our themes are Sounding Off! and Were the Dark Ages dark? There is a downloadable copy of our theme overview below. We have welcomed Mr Hoadley into class to teach us how to play the cello and perform The Swan by Saint-Saens. A group of eight pupils also visited the Cornwall Youth Orchestra during a monthly rehearsal where we were introduced to each family of instruments. We have also all had an opportunity to play a violin when Hannah Birt gave us an introductory session.
Our theme for the second half of the Spring Term is Were the Dark Ages dark? We are learning all about Norse invaders and are looking forward to The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth on March 9th. We will learn about Viking longships, clothing and trading. We are continuing to have gymnastics sessions on alternate Friday afternoons and on March 21st we're off to The Minack Theatre for a workshop on Twelfth Night as part of Shakespeare Week.
